TIME OF CRISIS: impact on food production

Currently, there are various conflicts that affect society and the planet, which hinder economic and environmental development, as in the case of food production. This presents export and supply problems, whose situation has reflected the need for basic foods such as wheat, corn and barley. Likewise, the reduction of manure and mineral fertilizers (potassium, phosphate, nitrogen and mixtures) has been evidenced, a cause that has led to an increase in prices and food shortages.
Peru has been one of the most affected countries, due to the fact that two products of the primary food basket are rice and potatoes, which use high amounts of fertilizers for their production processes. This situation has generated a significant increase in prices and a deterioration in the ability of the poorest and most vulnerable population to feed themselves. For this reason, this third edition of the Innova Biology Sciences magazine revolves around social problems and their relationship with ecosystems.
